Montpellier Celebrates Street Art During an Immersive Week-Long Event
From May 21 to 28, the Montpellier Méditerranée Métropole Tourism and Convention Bureau is celebrating urban art with a week entirely dedicated to street art. Exhibitions, live performances, artist meet-and-greets, and other events will punctuate this creative interlude in the heart of Montpellier, offering visitors a new way to discover the city and its cultural energy.
Featuring ephemeral artworks, street tours, and participatory experiences, this special week invites both contemporary art enthusiasts and those who are simply curious to explore Montpellier from a freer, more vibrant, and bolder perspective.
An artistic immersion in the heart of the city
Throughout the week, the Tourist Office, located on Place de la Comédie, will be transformed into a true hub of artistic expression. The artist Fragments will unveil his exhibition Jardin Secret there—an invitation to immerse yourself in a sensitive, visual world where textures, colors, and urban poetry intertwine.
The opening reception will take place on Thursday, May 21, at 6 p.m., in a friendly atmosphere open to everyone. For the occasion, the Tourist Office will make a special exception and stay open until 8 p.m. so that the public can view the exhibition in the artist’s presence.
The weekend will extend this immersive experience with several live painting sessions on Saturday, May 23, Sunday, May 24, and Monday, May 25. These performances will offer visitors the chance to observe the artistic process firsthand, gain insight into the creative process, and engage with the artist about their work.
On Tuesday, May 26, and Wednesday, May 27, the spotlight will be on street art events organized in collaboration with our partners Parcelle473 and Line Up, two organizations dedicated to promoting urban culture in Montpellier.

An Artistic Treasure Hunt in Montpellier
Street Art Week will also continue in the streets of Montpellier with a unique and fun activity: a life-size treasure hunt. Starting May 21, 100 keys will be hidden throughout the city. Each participant who finds a key and returns it to the Tourist Office will receive a print of a work by the artist Fragments.
A creative way to explore Montpellier’s neighborhoods while taking a fresh look at the facades, alleyways, and urban spaces that make up the city’s artistic identity.
A guided tour to discover Montpellier’s street art
The highlight of this cultural week is the guided tour “Street Art: An Overview,” taking place on Monday, May 25, at 3:00 p.m. For two hours, participants will be led by a passionate guide through Montpellier to discover works by local and international artists scattered throughout the city.
From monumental murals to more understated works, this walking tour will give you a better understanding of the evolution of street art in Montpellier and the growing role this art form plays in the city’s cultural landscape today.
Reservations are required to participate in this tour.
